Do I need a reservation?
While it’s not required to have a reservation (i.e. you can buy a ticket directly on board), it’s preferred so that you don’t miss the ride. December is a busy part of the season, and we’re booked more times than not. These are also closed groups, dedicated events on boat, etc.
So, it’s best if you reserve your ticket via email or give us a call on 041 386 945 (same number for WhatsApp or Viber) and we’ll create an event in google calendar for you.
Are dogs, cats and other pets allowed onboard?
They are if they are in their ‘transport vehicles’ (box, case, wheels, etc.)
Otherwise, they aren’t allowed. We know your pet is (likely) part of your family and well behaved, but we had some past experiences where dogs scratched the inner side of the boat, barked on other guests (some were terrified), fought with other pets, etc.
After all that, we concluded it’s best for most if we only allow pets in their ‘transport vehicles’.
Here’s a piece of thought…if you’re a tourist you likely brought your pet in some kind of ‘transport vehicle’. Take that with you for those 25-50minutes on a boat and we all win.
If you can arrange that, you are more than welcome to bring them abroad.

Is it safe for children and/or elderly people?
Absolutely safe, yes!
We haven’t had one incident in all these years of operations.
Kids will think they’re in a cartoon!
The elderly will be able to relax a bit from all the crowd and rest a little.
Is it possible to buy hot/cold beverage on board?
Absolutely!
We offer palette of hot and cold beverages.
You can enjoy a cup of local mulled red/white wine or a cup of hot tea.
Or iced tea, juice, water, beer or champagne (aka sprinkling wine).
Beverages are sold separately.
Is there an explanation/guide on board?
We’re one of the rare boats on Ljubljanica River that offers a live tour guide and answers your questions during our Regular Daily 50min ride (and other tours).
However, during our 25min December Tour, the time window is too short to fit everything in—there’s simply not enough time for narration, photo-taking, and enjoying the beautiful lights all around the boat.
Here’s what we suggest: join us for the 25min December boat ride after 16:00 (4pm) to fully experience Ljubljana’s magical lights. Then, come back the next day for our 50min Regular Day ride with live narration where we’ll answer all your questions. What do you say?
How about other boats? Are you guys all the same?
Not the same…not even close.
Each boat is operated by a different owner.
Other boats are ok if you just want a ride and be done with it.
But if you want THE experience, then we’re the only choice for you, really.
We’re the only boat on the Ljubljanica River made 100% wood AND electric on top of that!
And when you get on Regular Daily Tours (they last 50min), you also get live narration of the surroundings as well (with others you’ll get pre-recorded tape at best)
You just can’t get there anywhere else.
Heck, you can’t get that mostly anywhere else in this region (as far as we know), not just in Ljubljana.
I’m diagnosed with Vertigo. Can I take a ride with this boat?
The ride is mostly smooth, and we’ve had guests diagnosed with vertigo who didn’t experience any issues.
That said, you know yourself best.
If needed, we can drop you off at the nearest dock (even if it’s not ours) in case you start feeling unwell.
Considering the short duration of the ride—just 25 minutes—there really shouldn’t be any problems.
Can we do selfies and other images? How about photo with Capitan?
Absolutely!
You can do your own selfies or ask other passengers to take a picture of you. Then return the favor. And as a bonus, you can even ask the boat Captain to take a picture of you or (even better) you take a picture WITH our Captain!
These memories stay forever, and even more so when Google/Apple photo resurfaces them every now and then.
Where exactly is boat taking us with this 25min December Tour?
25-Minute December Tour (this one)
This special December tour focuses on the beautifully decorated and illuminated parts of the city. The route takes you along the Ljubljanica River, from the confluence with the Gradaščica tributary to the iconic Dragon Bridge.
50-Minute Regular Daily Tour
The regular daily tour offers a different experience. It begins at Breg and heads south, upriver. You’ll pass under the Šentjakob and Hradecky Bridges before continuing past the confluence of the Gradaščica and Ljubljanica Rivers. The route then opens up to views of the picturesque Trnovo waterfront.
At Špica, once a popular city bathing area, the boat turns right. To the left is the entrance to Gruber’s Canal, built in the 18th century, now home to a marina for riverboats. Passing the rowing club and the kayak and canoe center, the journey reaches Livada. Just beyond the Hladnik Road Bridge, the boat turns back toward the city center.
On the return trip, enjoy stunning views of Ljubljana Castle, Prule, the old town, Cobbler’s Bridge, the floating café Makalonca, Franciscan Church, Triple Bridge, and Plečnik’s Market. The boat continues under Butcher’s Bridge (2010), also known as the Lovers’ Bridge, the striking Dragon Bridge (1901), and the Žitni Bridge (2010). The tour turns around just before Plečnik’s sluices and ends back at Breg.
What we recommend?
Take both, 25min December Tour AND 50min Regular Daily Tour. They are two different experiences, 2 different tours.
This way you’ll get the complete experience in Ljubljanica River.
p.s. It’s not us trying to “sell you more”, it’s just that these two trours are different by lenght, day/night ride experience, with/without narration, etc. that we just can’t squeeze both into one.
Are there coushins, blankets on board?
We believe in offering a pristine, authentic experience.
Sure, we could add a few heaters to the boat, but that would take away from the magic—the gentle breeze, the natural scents, the soothing sounds of the river.
Without these sensory elements, you might as well watch the ride on your smart TV from your couch.
It’s not the same, is it? 😉
That said, don’t worry—it’s not an Arctic expedition! It’s a comfortable 25-minute ride in a Mediterranean climate.
For your comfort, we do provide cushions for cozy seating and a few blankets to warm up if needed.
Is there an access for wheelchair for peple with special needs?
There’s an elevation access built right to the onboarding part in the dock built specifically for this scenario. We’ll help you with transfer from there onto the boat of course.

What should I wear? Should I dress extra?
Nothing special is needed. Just regular clothes suffice.
How can I pay?
We take credit cards (Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard, Maestro, Karanta, Flik, etc.) and of course cash.
Of course you can also pay with your NFC enabled device – Google Pay or Apple Pay with your phone or smart watch.

When visiting Ljubljana by car or camper, several convenient parking options are available near Breg 1, 1000 Ljubljana (our location)

(1) NUK II Parking Lot (navigation)
Located near the National and University Library, this parking area offers easy access to the city center. The entrance is from Emonska Road.
(2) Kongresni Trg Parking Garage (navigation)
A centrally located underground garage close to many attractions, including Congress Square and the University of Ljubljana.
